Gum Printing: A Step-By-Step manual

I am honored to have my work included in Christina Z. Anderson’s new book, Gum Printing: A Step-By-Step manual, Highlighting Artists and Their Creative Practice.  Available from Focal Press in September 2016, this informative book will cover the how-to’s of gum printing in great detail.  The second half of the book is devoted to the work of over 50 contemporary practitioners, featuring images and information about their process and philosophy.

Out of the Blue: Explorations in Cyanotype

Many thanks to Chris Heustis at Photosynthesis, LLC for inviting me to jury “Out of the Blue: Explorations in Cyanotype.” Approximately 70 artists submitted over 300 images, & I had the pleasure of reviewing them all. Thank you to everyone who submitted work – the choice was difficult. I am very happy to have seen such energetic & imaginative explorations of cyanotype happening today! Let’s keep cyanotyping!

Artists Reception: Sunday, May 8, 1:30-3:30pm

As a way to invite conversations between two artists and their work, the Art Complex Museum asked 20 artists (whose work had been shown before at ACM) to select an artist (new to the ACM).  I was delighted to invite photographer Caleb Cole to show his work alongside mine.

Exploring Contemporary Applications of Photographic Chemistry

Curated by Dan Estabrook

March 22 – May 1
Reception | Saturday March 26 | 4:30 – 6:30PM
Penland Gallery
Penland, NC
This Is a Photograph, curated by artist-educator Dan Estabrook, considers the fascinating subject of chemical and physical photography in the digital age and how we might now define a photograph. Handmade images created through the complex alchemy of light and chemistry are the common ground of the artists invited by Estabrook for this exhibition. Each of these contemporary image-makers eloquently reaches forward with their ideas and imagination and back in time to retain their connection to historical processes. The works themselves speak volumes about creative minds that disregard boundaries or definitions and seek only to realize their visions.
